West U8s V South Westland U8s<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It was a tight game with West in the lead 25\/20.<\/span><\/p>\n

South Westland made a come back in the second half to lead until, just on the whistle Allan Harris<\/strong> pushed though for the try to tie the game 40 all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Awesome game to watch!<\/span><\/p>\n

Under 10’s South Westland vs Wests<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This game was a great game with a good crowd and a nice sunny day. This was South’s best team effort of the season , players of the day were Willie McBride<\/strong> and Alex Maisey<\/strong> with both players scoring good tries and McBride was strong in support play and Maisey making good yards on attack , George Rankin<\/strong> also tackled well.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marist met Blaketown this week in a pretty even game.\u00a0 Both teams played well and had plenty of energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Try scorers for Marist were Billie Hampton<\/strong>, Bella Masters<\/strong>, Brennan Thomas<\/strong> and Liam Galbraith<\/strong>.\u00a0 Good efforts were put in by Jake Crook<\/strong>, Tane Masters<\/strong> and Noah Pritchard<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marist Players of the day went to Billie Hampton<\/strong> for great improvement on attack and defence and to Fynn O\u2019Keefe<\/strong> for sticking to the task for the whole game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Subject: Wests Under 8 rugby vs Marists under 8 report<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

A great game was played on Saturday between Wests Under 8 and Marist. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wests led after the first half with strong showings from the players – Allan Harris<\/strong> got three try’s, Liam Smith<\/strong> two try’s and Olliver Nixon<\/strong>, Jacob Kelly<\/strong> and Jonty Robertson<\/strong> one each.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Marist was too strong for Wests in the second half and overtook Wests by one try. The final score being 50-45.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grey Valley vs Kiwi 2 at Ikamatua<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Grey Valley had an excellent game running in lots of try\u2019s against Kiwi 2, Tane Jones<\/strong>, Isabel Johansen<\/strong>, Jackson Dixon<\/strong>, Hannah Burkitt-Petch<\/strong>, Sophie Whittaker<\/strong> and Fred Campbell\u00a0<\/strong> all showing good sportsmanship.<\/span><\/p>\n

Players of the day went to Fred Campbell<\/strong> and Sophie Whittaker<\/strong> who played really well each scoring a try. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fred ran the ball straight up and through the opposition to score a great try, with Sophie showing lightning speed to run around and score in the corner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grey Valley vs Kiwi\u00a0 Westland High School.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Given the rain showers everyone made a great effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Mills<\/strong>, Jackson Dixon<\/strong> and Jake Kendrick<\/strong> scoring tries while Hannah Burkett Petch<\/strong> and Sophie Whittaker<\/strong> made some good runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Players of the day were Hannah Burkett Petch<\/strong> and Jackson Dixon<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n Subject: Kiwi Un 8 – 21\/6\/14<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

A very wet day saw Kiwi meet a strong Marist team. Both teams played well in the conditions with Marist coming away with a convincing win. Lochie Windley<\/strong> was outstanding with strong tackles and running players down. Curtis Smith<\/strong> and William Fletcher were both awarded\u00a0player of the day for their continuous improvement and never giving up,<\/span><\/p>\n

Bruce Miller<\/strong> never stopped chasing on defence and Kade Scadden<\/strong> took some hard tackles back got straight up and back for tackles. Raven Boyd<\/strong>,\u00a0Brennan Curtain<\/strong>\u00a0and Hunter Schroder<\/strong> all stuck it out the whole game despite being cold and wet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Tim Scadden said he was stoked with the improvement of his team and their ability to stuck it out for the whole game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marist met Blaketown in what was a close game in bitterly cold conditions at Blaketown.\u00a0 Max Walklin<\/strong> and Catherine O\u2019Gara<\/strong> did well to score tries as did Harley Andrew<\/strong> and Bella Masters<\/strong> who received the Player of the Day awards.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Zade Bellis<\/strong>, Brennan Thomas<\/strong>, Billie Hampton<\/strong> and Seth Billett<\/strong> all played well with some great defence work<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Subject: Under 10′ Rugby Marist vs South Westland <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Played 14 June at Karoro<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Marist managed a 35-0 home ground win against South Westland. <\/span><\/p>\n

A team of speedsters saw Ollie Robb<\/strong>, Dominic Moles<\/strong> and Mero Williams<\/strong> playing well with plenty of tries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Riley Fairhall<\/strong> and Reid Olsen<\/strong> were strong in support. Alex Stone<\/strong>, Arly Bellis<\/strong> and Josh Fentiman<\/strong> scored their first tries of the season. <\/span><\/p>\n

Was fantastic for both teams \u00a0to have good supporter numbers, especially South Westland. <\/span><\/p>\n

The game displayed excellent sportsmanship from both sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wests and Grey Valley put on a close exciting game of running rugby. <\/span><\/p>\n

Strong play led to excellent tries by Jonty Robertson<\/strong>, Allan Harris<\/strong>, Liam Smith<\/strong> and Billy Vincent<\/strong> giving Wests a good lead at half time. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, Grey Valley scored 5 unanswered tries in the 2nd half to draw level. <\/span><\/p>\n

Two late tries by Wests allowed them to win 65-55. <\/span><\/p>\n

Isla Reeves<\/strong> scored a great try and was Wests player of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

A very cold morning at Arthur Fong Park saw Kiwi under 8 take on Blaketown, Kiwi were strong from the first whistle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lochie Windley<\/strong> and Connor Reid<\/strong> shared the player of the day honours both having strong games on attach and defence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Curtis Smith<\/strong>, Vinnie Stevens-Glass<\/strong> and Hamish Miller<\/strong> all achieved a number of tries each early in the game and were happy to step back and support their\u00a0teams mates in bringing the ball up the field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ruben Rochford<\/strong> showed great improvement and take on players bigger then him with strong tackles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ethan Hurran<\/strong>\u00a0had a fantastic time when running with ball in hand and showed a great amount of confidence getting amongst it and being involved in the play.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiwi have finished the first round strongly and have shown a massive improvement by all players.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is a report for the West vs Westport U14 game on Sat 7th.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wests took a big loss against a bigger well drilled Westport team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Wests had some good runs & got close to the try line they couldn’t manage to score. <\/span><\/p>\n

Westport had some strong runners that were proving difficult to stop throughout the game but the Wests boys never gave up. <\/span><\/p>\n

Well earned player of the day for Wests went to Lee Austin.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Subject: South Westland U10’s verse Blaketown<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

After a really wet Friday South Westland hosted Blaketown in Hari Hari on the Saturday, it was a bit wet under foot but the kids loved getting out there and in to it.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

George Rankin<\/strong> had his first game of the season, tackled well and handled the ball well on a wet day.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Dennehy Coles<\/strong> was in a smaller forward pack and played well and worked hard all day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was an enjoyable game to watch and ably refereed by Jeff Garland.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n Subject: Rugby under 8 report Wests vs Kiwi<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Wests Under 8 rugby team had a great game against Kiwi last Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The players had a good battle but Wests came out stronger on the day with a final score of 35-15 to Wests. <\/span><\/p>\n

Try’s were achieved by the following Wests players Allan Harris<\/strong>, Liam Smith<\/strong>,George Rea<\/strong>, Billy Vincent<\/strong> and Jonty Robertson<\/strong> ( also Player of the Day<\/em>)<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiwi un8’s were so excited to get back on the field after a 2 week break that the mud and early showers could not deter them when versing wests on Saturday. <\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams had full teams which made for a very even\u00a0game despite the final score in wests favour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oliver Wieblitz<\/strong> has shown great improvement and was very strong when running with the ball scoring himself the player of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hamish Miller<\/strong> again had a strong game leading from the front and this week was supported by his brother Bruce\u00a0Miller<\/strong> <\/span><\/strong> in his first game of the season, both Miller boys were\u00a0strong on defence and scoring a try each.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lochie Windley<\/strong> and Brennan Curtain<\/strong> bout had fantastic defence games making strong tackles and chasing down players.<\/span><\/p>\n

A great game enjoyed by all.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a team South Westland played very well for a wet day, they passed the ball well, and also had long periods of recycling the ball.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Players of the day were Alex Maisey<\/strong> and Callum Anderson<\/strong> who passed the ball consistently and were active throughout the game.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Alex had some good strong runs and tackled well.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Harry Friend<\/strong> and Lachie Clarke<\/strong> had strong games.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was another strong turnout for the Wests U6 team. <\/span><\/p>\n

Going from 6 players to 16 meant they were able to help Blaketown out with some extra players.<\/span><\/p>\n

A special thanks from the coaches to those Wests players that donned the black jersey for half a game. <\/span><\/p>\n

All players did some excellent attacking with Faith Gillman<\/strong> taking the attacking player of the day in her first game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wests ripping needs some work but\u00a0Jake Redpath<\/strong> stood out and got the Wests defence player of the day for his great rips.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marist Under 8 rugby team were too strong for Wests on Saturday. <\/span><\/p>\n

Strong running by Marist saw a number of good tries scored. <\/span><\/p>\n

After a slow start Wests competed well and two tries were scored by West Player of the Day Allan Harris<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiwi Under 8 showed great improvement against South Westland going down 30-35.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hamish Miller<\/strong> was impressive scoring 2 tries, strong on defence\u00a0\u00a0and into everything earning him Player of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vinnie Stevens-Glass<\/strong> also scored 2 tries and was impressive on defence chasing down players and really leading from the front.<\/span><\/p>\n

Connor Reid<\/strong> also showed great skill in only his second game at this level scoring his first try of the season and showing strong running with the ball. <\/span><\/p>\n

Curtis Smith<\/strong> also showed great confidence scoring himself a try.<\/span><\/p>\n

Caelan Bond<\/strong> and Raven Boyd<\/strong> also showed a great amount of improvement getting amongst play and making same strong tackle.<\/span><\/p>\n

All in all a great game of rugby, very even and enjoyable to watch.<\/span><\/p>\n
