Kiwi U8’s – 10/5/14
A young inexperienced Kiwi team went down to Marist 35-0 on Saturday. Marist started fast and overwhelmed Kiwi in the first 15mins. Kiwi were able to regroup and get into the game led from the front by same of their older players, Vinnie Stevens – Glass and Hamish Miller who were both strong with the ball and make some good tackles.
In his first season at U8’s Kade Scadden was outstanding on attack and defence and was awarded Player of the day for his efforts. Connor Reid had some fantastic runs with ball in hand. William Flycatcher & Ruben Rochford were good on defence chasing down players and tackling.
It was a great start to the season with the whole team improving and getting involved as the game progressed with great numbers on both teams to ensure a strong competition.
Wests Under 8 vs Blaketown Under 8 Rugby
Wests Under 8 Rugby team played Blaketown at McLean Park on Saturday 10 May. Both teams played well for the first game of the year.
Wests had a strong first half leading scoring 5 tries.
Blaketown competed well and were very competitive in the 2nd half restricting Wests to only one further try.
Final score 30 nil to Wests.
Marist v Kiwi No: 1 under 6 Rugby
Marist and Kiwi had quite an even game with Kiwi coming out on top. First time Marist players Jacob Crook, Brennan Thomas, Bella Masters and Ilish Faulkner all got involved with some great runs. Max Walklin was at his brilliant best scoring tries in both halves of the game. Tane Masters and Sam Hampton did well after a tentative start. Zade Bellis and Billie Hampton were steady throughout.
Marist v Kiwi under 8 Rugby
Marist and Kiwi met on a glorious sunny day at Cass Square, Hokitika. It was a great team effort by Marist, led ably by Antonio Verhoeven, Will vander Geest and Griffin Thomas. Ruby Rae-Wood was in the action all game and showed great determination. Newcomers to this grade Marco Leleifua, Seamus Sheehan-Priest, Nikalai Duffell, Elliot and James Vander Geest all had outstanding games.
We thank you for your Reports and hope that we can get more next week…..
